LSSI is hiring a full-timeFamily Findings Specialist,Monday through Friday.Targeted recruitment efforts willinclude specificallyreaching out topotential familieswhoaremost likelyto meet theneedsforthespecific youth,including, butnotlimited toattending andparticipating in community events throughout thearea.Will doextensive research,investigation,andoutreach in locating absentee parents/guardians.Identify andlocatepotential extended family/fictivekinship relationships. Willassistthefamily caseworker withfacilitating theexpansionof resourcesneededto better serve children andtheir families involved in fostercare.Serveasa team member within the multidisciplinaryteam or Childand Family TeamMeeting consisting of case manager, supervisor foster parent, birthparents andyouthto facilitate connections between newly foundfamily/fictivekin members, supports andothercollateral resources to resolve complex and stalledcased to improve permanency outcomes.

EssentialFunctions:
  • Provideprofessionaltechnicalassistanceandresourcedevelopment support tocaseworkstaff who serve children with specialized andproblematic behavior service needs.
  • Utilizea family-centered,trauma-informed,strength-based,andEDI(equity,diversity, inclusion) lens through which youth and family needs are assessed.
  • Engage theyouth(asage-appropriate),birthparents, familyandsocialconnections, foster parents, and staff to facility and support stability andpermanency for the youth.
  • Usenon-traditionalsearch methods toidentifyandlocatefamily membersandsupportiveconnections.
  • Conductdiligent searchactivitiesacrossmultipledatabases, systems,socialmedia,andother websites and complete required forms and SACWIS documentation, send written correspondence, and long/track data for use by the Foster Care Team.
  • Useecomaps,genograms, andothertoolstomapandlocateprospective supportsand placement resourcesfor the youth and family.
  • Identify andengage family supportsandconnections includingrelativesandfictivekinforthe purpose of life-long connections and permanency achievement.
  • Engageinavarietyoftechniques tomeetandcommunicate withpotentialfosterparents, including attending events, networking, social media andother strategies.
  • Willtaketheleadinengaging inbothproactive generalandtargetfosterfamilyrecruitment efforts for youthin the foster care system.
  • Coordinateservicesandattendmeetings,withotheragencies,systems,andcommunity providers to meet the needs of the clients.
Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degreeinsocialwork,otherhumanservicesfield,orcriminaljusticeisrequired.
  • ChildWelfareEmployeeLicensure(CWEL)preferred,butnotrequired.
  • Backgroundcheckclearance,bothcriminalandCANTS.
  • Understand implicitbiasandhow towork withina system thatimpactsdecisions for youthand theirfamilieswhenlocatingplacement optionswiththeabilitytohavecrucialconversationswith staff and other child and family team members.
  • Researchskillsexperienceworkingwithchildrenandspecialneedsaplus.
  • Possessstrongleadership, dataanalysis,andproblemsolvingskills.
  • Fullaccess to SACWIS inorder to"file mine"(review investigation reports,previous assessments,casenotes,placementhistory,collateralcontacts,etc.)intheinitiationofFamily Finding activities.
  • Accesstoandknowledgeofcompletingbackgroundchecks.
  • Excellent communication, organization, presentation and pc/computer skills (including proficiency with Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Position requires valid IL statutory minimum liability auto insurance coverage (including bodily injury and property damage).
  • Valid Illinois driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance required. Access to transportation for visits and to transport clients to and from appointments.
